"Nature is one amongst the manifold manifestations of divinity and flowers are its ornaments. Out of these jewels arises the art form of Ikebana". Flowers have been an integral part of our culture from times immemorial. The religious and aesthetic instincts of different cultures world over have found expression in various forms. One such is Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

Ikebana has its roots in the Japanese native religion Shintoism & Buddhism. This art form has found wide acceptance world over because of its association with nature, which is a language that crosses barries of all kinds.
There are many schools of Ikebana like the Ohara, Sogetsu & Ikenobo Schools. The Ikebana International is a non-profit, cultural organisation which brings master, teachers and students of various countries together.
It's motto is thus, very aptly, "Friendship through Flowers". The organisation was founded by MS Ellen Gordon Allen in 1956
The Hyderabad Chapter #250 of Ikebana International started in 1997 under the guidance of Grandmaster Horyu Meena Anantnarayan. It conducts regular exhibitions with different themes for all to enjoy. Every month the chapter holds workshops, demonstrations and related programmes for its members and guests. The chapter has a grandmaster and several senior masters from different schools of Ikebana.

Members receive Ikebana International magazines, newsletters, information about conferences and symposia which they can attend. They are also treated to other interesting activities.
